Suburban Survival: Guide

Just like you would as you set out to go on a hike or a camping trip, to survive and thrive in suburbia, you need the right tools and equipment to be successful. You need to have a Guide.

That is why equipping yourself with the Bible is so extremely important.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

What are some key words/phrases about the Bible here?

What do these verses say about how the Bible helps you?

Some key words about the Bible that I saw in these verses are "light for my path", "God-breathed", "training in righteousness", "equipped" and "living and active".

I know it is hard to "find time" in your day to read the Bible.  But with the words used here to describe the Bible and it's benefit to us, our mindset shouldn't be "I don't have time".  Rather, it should be, "why wouldn't I make time?"

The Bible is LIVING, ACTIVE, A LIGHT, GOD-BREATHED as it EQUIPS AND TRAINS US in RIGHTEOUSNESS!  That alone is good enough for me to be reading the Bible daily and I hope it inspires you to read it today as well.

In fact, take some time right now and read the Bible.  If you don't know where to start, try starting here - Genesis 1:1-2:3.  As you read through this passage, ask yourself what this passage reveals to you about who God is and how He views us.
